TAITO Kicks Off 70th Anniversary Celebrations

Last Updated on January 5, 2023

Long-running game developers Taito Corporation will experience their 70th anniversary in August 2023. To commemorate the event, Taito have already created a website and dedicated Twitter account. A recent tweet of theirs brings light to the occasion, stating “Happy New Year… Taito celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.

Renowned for creating Space Invaders (1978) and Bubble Bobble (1986), Taito is also hosting giveaways and restaurant events in Japan. Last year, they released the Egret II Mini – a mini arcade cabinet that can play some of Taito’s earliest titles such as Lunar Rescue, Steel Worker and Pirate Pete.

The beginning of Taito started in 1958, where Michael Kogan founded the company which started producing jukeboxes and vending machine, then moving onto developing video games and cabinets from the 60s onwards. As of yet, there is no further information of what other events are upcoming for the anniversary, but its certainly a milestone to greatly acknowledge nonetheless.
