Next: a new Spectrum magazine!

Last Updated on March 27, 2024

You can now subscribe to a new Spectrum Next magazine, published by Fusion Retro Books, the team behind CRASH.

Earlier this year, Chris Wilkins – the driving force behind the revived CRASH and ZZAP! magazines, not to mention everything else output from Fusion Retro Books – announced that the CRASH team was working on a new Spectrum Next-focused magazine.

Next is a new Spectrum magazine

This would feature:

  • Reviews
  • Previews
  • Developer interviews
  • Look at games already released
  • Hardware section
  • Interviews with the team members
  • Next Music

Well, we’ve heard that the pilot issue is now available to order, and features an exclusive review of the new Head Over Heels. Other details seem scarce at this point, but we can tell you that this is a 60 page publication, in the A5 format.

For subscriptions, you can sign up on the Memberful portal, with each issue costing £4.99 plus postage. We understand that a PDF version will also be available for £2.

(Note that this is the first FRB title to use Memberful rather than their usual Patreon.)

As ever, we would encourage you to support a new retro gaming publication. Fusion Retro Books has an excellent record in producing magazines, with previous and ongoing titles including ZZAP!64, CRASH, SEGA FORCE MEGA, and FUSION. And, of course, they also publish various books – the recent crowdfunder for The Graftgold Story hit its target t and has now entered production.
