Classic Pinball Machine Soundtracks Coming to Vinyl

Last Updated on May 25, 2023

In the 80s and 90s, pinball machines were an essential part of any arcade. Even though the player only controls the flippers, there are dozens of moving parts in each pinball machine, and no two are alike. Nowadays, it’s much harder to find them in the wild, let alone in good condition.

While you might find a pinball machine in a retro bar or arcade, they’re largely specialist gaming items these days.

Pinball machines are also notoriously hard to maintain. Anything outside routine cleaning can end up being rather expensive, and many faults require professional repairs.

It’s not the same as owning the whole machine, but if you enjoy the music, you’re in luck. Label, Jackpot Records, are releasing a 2 part collection of pinball machine soundtracks on vinyl. More specifically, these volumes focus on music from machines developed by Bally and Williams.

(Bally and Williams are two separate companies that have contributed greatly to the gaming and amusement industries. Bally has been producing pinball machines and arcade games since 1932, while Williams started with electromechanical pinball machines in 1943 and later expanded into arcade and video games. In the 1970s, Bally began producing slot machines and developed some of the earliest slot machines with electronic and digital features. Both companies are now owned by Scientific Games Corporation, which produces various gaming products and services.)

The first volume contains music from:

  • Attack from Mars
  • Black Knight 2000
  • Pinbot
  • Tales of the Arabian Nights
  • Taxi

These machines feature on the second volume:

  • Banzai Run
  • Fish Tales
  • Funhouse
  • Medieval Madness
  • Theatre of Magic

Both volumes are available to preorder from Jackpot Records’ official website. If you’re a collector, these will really stand out thanks to the unique transparent red and blue color of the Vinyls.

Jackpot Records is based in Portland, USA, and offers international shipping.
