3DS System-to-System Transfers Still Work Following eShop Closure
Last Updated on June 3, 2023
We’re not far away from the official closure date of the 3DS and Wii U eShops. On March 27th, 2023, players will no longer be able to purchase or download new games onto these consoles. Better have a browse while you can!
However, following the uncertainty of whether 3DS system transfers will be possible or not, Nintendo UK have announced that this is in fact possible. Users will be able to transfer all their content between 3DS consoles, along with receiving software updates, online play and re-downloading games including ones from retail bundles. This is great news for those who are seeking to buy a 2/3DS.
Nintendo Life has provided a guide on how to successfully transfer the data between consoles using a PC, laptop or Mac. Nintendo has published information, last updated in July 2022, of what users can and can’t do regarding the 3DS eShop after certain dates.
It really feels like the end of another Nintendo era!
I am a media and pop culture enthusiast and love Nintendo and indie games, particularly Zelda and Stardew Valley. When I’m not gaming you’ll find me writing, creating fanart, and playing music covers of my favourite games!
