Giant Donkey Kong

Largest Donkey Kong Arcade Cabinet in the World Under Construction

Last Updated on October 10, 2023

The Worlds largest playable Donkey Kong arcade cabinet is currently under construction at the Strong National Museum of Play in New York.

When finished, this giant Donkey Kong cabinet will be almost 20 feet tall and is a prominent feature in a 90,000-square-foot expansion dedicated to video game history.

If you’re wondering how a cabinet so large will be playable, players will stand at a pedestal just in front of the cabinet with standard-size working controls.

On their website, The Strong National Museum say they had help with the project from Nintendo, who provided guidance on making the cabinet as accurate as possible. This is much more than an emulator with a big screen and fancy marquee, and the exhibit opens to the public at the end of June 2023.

The Museum is home to the World Video Game Hall of Fame, where influential titles from across the years are on display. It’s not just retro games; modern titles like Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us stand beside classics such as Goldeneye 007 and Quake.

If games of the non-electronic variety are more your style, The Strong is also home to the National Toy Hall of Fame, featuring both old and new versions of all-time classics.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness a 7-metre tall Donkey Long arcade cabinet!
