KOTOR 2 Bugs Patched, Update Notes Identify THREE Issues

Last Updated on June 1, 2024

It’s finally here! If you have been waiting for the KOTOR 2 bug on Nintendo Switch to be patched and expected a long wait, it’s time to load up the game and wait for the update. The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords hotfix was issued on June 30th, and fixes three bugs (two crash and one loop).

This includes the game-breaking bug that plagued users heading into certain cutscenes, and should make the game playable again.

The patch notes were issued on the Aspyr website as follows:

  • Addressed a crash that would occur after certain cutscenes (i.e. Basilisk scene on Onderon)
  • Addressed an issue where the game would crash on certain mid/late game saves. (Dantooine, Korriban)
  • Addressed an issue where players could become stuck in a loading screen loop when Sith Troopers board the Ebon Hawk on Peragus

In theory, you should now be able to proceed with the game, potentially to completion (we’re not promising anything). However, users can continue to submit bug notices if necessary.

Meanwhile, Limited Run Games has confirmed that it is releasing a physical boxed version of KOTOR 2 this summer for Nintendo Switch and PC.

This release follows the already issued limited run of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and will hopefully include the bug fixes and DLC. Of course, the PC version of KOTOR 2 had its own problems, which are also hopefully patched on this release (unless they’re aiming for a completely authentic experience…)
