Over the years, us fortunate Commodore 64 gamers have been treated to a plethora of overhead/top-down single screen racers such as Badlands, Carnage, Grand Prix Simulator, and of course, the fab Ivan ‘Ironman’ Stewart’s Super Off Road – the latter scoring a respectable 85% in ZZAP!64 issue 66. But since the demise of the commercial C64 market, there really hasn’t been a top-down racer worthy of our attention… that is, until now… We get our joysticks wet and dirty playing and chatting about Monte Boyd’s fabulous new Commodore 64 top-down game, MUDDY RACERS.

THE DISCOVERY & RECOVERY OF LORDSFIRE
Back in December 2022, Frank Gasking, via his GTW64.co.uk website, released the recently discovered C64 game Lordsfire, which had previously been hidden away in a dusty box for around 38 years! We share Frank’s discovery and the recovery of Jeremy Walker’s long-lost game.

Hands up who remembers The Thompson Twins? No – not the Tintin characters, but the UK pop band from the early to mid-eighties. Well – did you know that they had a Commodore 64 game called TREAD BEAR? We recently rediscovered it in The Mouldy Cupboard and couldn’t resist loading it up once again… Was it worth it? You’re about to find out!
